Chinese Numerology (Lo Shu Grid)

Chinese Numerology is used for calculations and analysis. It uses the date of birth and numbers in a 3*3 grid is also known as ‘Lo Shu Grid’. The numbers from 1 to 9 are arranged in the magical square in such a way that when added (diagonally, horizontally, and vertically), the sum will be equal to 15. Each number symbolizes personal traits, and the combination of numbers have magical properties. The Lo Shu Square, also known as the Nine Halls Diagram, is a unique and ancient tool in Chinese numerology and divination. It is a 3×3 grid that is the basis for the Chinese magic square. The Lo Shu Square is named after the mythical turtle from Chinese mythology, which is said to have emerged from the Luo River, carrying the Lo Shu grid on its shell. Each number in the Lo Shu Square has its own significance and is associated with one of the eight compass directions (North, South, East, West, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest), with the center representing the Earth.

History of Lo Shu Grid

About 4000 years back, there was a river in China by the name, “Hwang-Ho”. This yellow river in its normal course used to experience flood of a devastating nature, the lower part and the middle part being most affected. This caused so much problems to the people of China, they then believed that, the floods were as a result of a curse by the god or goddess. The first mythical emperor of China, “Wu-Of Hsia”, the wise and intelligent king then, was finding ways to control the floods. When he was walking along the river, he found the shell of a tortoise which had a remarkable marking engraved on it, which was in the form of 3 by 3 grid. This perfect grid with a 3 by 3 remarkable marking has come to be known as the “Lo-Shu Grid”. In China, it was believed that, god resides in the shell of a tortoise or turtle. So, in this way, the people of China discovered first, the Lo-Shu Grid, which was remarkably found on the shell of a tortoise. The picture shown below is what was found by Wu-Of-Hsia in Hwang-Ho River.

The Equivalent Lo-Shu Grid

There was a numerologist in Australia by the name, Hettie Templeton, who popularized the western grid to a great degree. Later on, there was no work carried out on this grid in the western countries. Although, work was being carried out on then in China. In this way, we have seen that the Lo-Shu Grid of the Chinese, the western grid and many other grids in numerology are all perfect squares of a 3×3 form. But, the most prevalent one is the Chinese Lo-Shu Grid which many people follow widely. The whole universe is made up of 5 elements; The Earth, The Fire, The Water, The Metal and The Wood. These elements are also represented by numbers. Likewise, the whole universe is also made up of 9 planets whereby all the things of the world are included in these planets which they are also represented by the numbers they rule. 4 ,9, and 2 represent Rahu, Mars and  Moon and elements are Wood, Fire and Earth respectively. Similarly 3,  5,  7- Jupiter , Mercury and Ketu and  elements are Wood, Earth and Metal. Number 2, 5 and 8 represent the Earth element with the ruling planet Moon, Mercury and Saturn respectively Number 4 and 3 represent the Wood element with the ruling planet Rahu and Jupiter respectively Number 6 and 7 represent the Metal element with the ruling planet Venus and Ketu respectively Number 9 represents the Fire element with the ruling planet of Mars Number 1 represents the Water element with the ruling planet of Sun Favourable Directions of the Lo-shu Grid Numbers As we all know, the universe composed of 4 main cardinal points; The North, The South, The West and The East. These directions has a number of which they are related to in Lo-shu Grid. From the previous page, the directions are North, South, East and West. The diagonal directions are Southeast, Southwest, Northeast and Northwest.

 

Types of Planes in Lo Shu Grid

In the Lo Shu Grid, there are two types of planes. These tend to be Horizontal as well as Vertical. Let us have a look at the symbolism of these planes that help us understand our Lo Shu grid calculator predictions:

Horizontal Planes
